Dance Tip #1: The Clothes
It seems like a small thing, but dance is a presentation art.
Expressing yourself through the style of clothing makes a HUGE difference.
I am studying at the Broadway Dance Center, and I was struggling in my street styles classes. I couldn't figure out why. I just didn't... look right.
Introducing: the cargo pants. I tried a pair on for a class. It was a little bit out of my comfort zone, but I went for it.
My dancing improved by 200%.
That might sound dramatic, but it is true.
Dance is so much about confidence, and the clothing for each style is picked to enhance the style. Cargo pants are forgiving, they allow the viewer to only pay attention to the groove.
Ballet is about lines and alignment. If you have the wrong clothes, and the line can't be seen, it also feels off.
Small tip, huge difference.
