Spanish Class will be so exciting! It is a mixed ages and mixed levels class. I’ve taught mixed levels and ages before and it actually works surprisingly well (for Spanish, haha, not so much for other things!) Everyone will: -Learn about Spanish speaking countries, culture, and try a few foods (with parent permission) -Learn songs in Spanish -Play games to learn Spanish I try to create an immersion environment as much as possible, but I will use English as needed to help explain things. For the beginning Spanish speakers, they’ll learn how to introduce themselves, ask/answer how they are doing, numbers one through ten, answer their age, learn as much vocabulary words as we can each week! (Colors, body parts, household objects...) For kids who have already been taking Spanish, and my older students, we will also work on verb conjugation. I always say learning Spanish is two things: verbs and vocab! The younger learners will learn as much vocab as they can, and the older/more advanced students will also start learning verb conjugations (starting with present tense.) I see where they are currently at, and then we keep adding on to that. The more advanced kids will do a few worksheets, but I make sure it’s not boring! One of my main goals is to show kids how real Spanish is, and inspire them to want to learn in a fun way! Wherever they are, they will get their next few steps in the language, so they continue growing in their confidence. Sometimes we’ll do an activity all together, sometimes we’ll be in smaller groups, and sometimes I’ll give an individual activity and help work individually with each student. Most of all, I want to make sure they are having FUN learning Spanish! I always mix in a bit of art, song, and we will be moving for much of the class!
